Our 'Banks' have loaned 25000 Crores to a State Govt, who asked for the loan to procure grains for their public distribution system. The officers at the Banks were satisfied that the money was being correctly utilised and the grain was being, in fact, stored in the godowns. This kept happening for the last five years. Today, when the people need food because of shortages, the State Govt has expressed inability to provide any grain. The plea is that the grain has simply vanished due to thefts or has rotted due to poor storage. Initially, the Banks certified that the 'Scheme' was viable. The next certification by the Banks was that yes the grains were being procured/stored and further loans were extendable. Now the Babus have certified that the grain has been stolen or has in fact rotted. And now 'We the Taxpayers' are left to hold that empty can! This sum of 25000 Crores will soon be declared as 'NPAs' by our Banks. This is in addition to the earlier 114Lakh Crores. It's anybody's guess who was in cahoots with each other to rip us off. Yes! They have the discretionary power to do what they are doing and you need not know their names. Everyone has a fig leaf of 'Fiduciary Responsibility' to hide behind. Another news report says that the State of UP had, for the first time ever, jailed an IAS officer as he could not hide his corrupt stash. So many IPS officers in Punjab have declared their net worth above tens of Crores with an SSP telling the world that 'officially' he is worth 22.5 Crores. And we are still fighting for that Rs 1500/-raise in the pension for the widow of our Jawans!! A special request to our Banker friends! "Please do not object to this post here. It's our money that you are giving away. If the loans are not recovered, we have to pay more taxes to help you write off the unpaid loans which you term as 'NPAs' We are all hurt and it's only because you do not stand firm, as you once did at the borders."
