WHAT IF THE SOLDIER FAILS ?
DC Pant asks on
behalf of the Nation :
Soldiers are called up
when every other Agency of the Govt fails. What if the Soldier fails? Whom will
the Govt call? Pakistan?
DCP adds
As mentioned in one
of the paragraphs, that the sports infrastructure of the Army should be made
available to civilians also, rightly so but what about the colossal amount the
sports ministry siphons off? Does the government not allocate any funds for
development of sports anywhere else? Why don't we have adequate playgrounds for
the children of other taxpayers? Who is responsible for it.
Just to remind of a
not very old minor incidents before the commonwealth games where one of the
bridges collapsed who came to the rescue? Whose efforts and resources were used
and who bagged the deal?
Today if we eye the
cleanliness, greenery, roads or any other infrastructure of the cantonments
then it is because of the good governance within the army which in spite of the
meager share of funds maintain it so well. Why not the same everywhere? Who is
responsible for the ill governance? Who siphons off the public money?
Similarly if we try
to dig out the root cause of insurgency or naxalism, one gets the answer as to
who is responsible for it?
How will it end if
the apartheid continues?
Ultimately if it goes
beyond everyone else's control who will put a hold to it?
The list could be endless highlighting the good, the bad and the ugly and shall be debated till truth prevails.

ReplyDeleteWhy can't the media highlight all this and compel the Govt and the bureaucracy to introspect and accord honour to the armed forces and their veterans and placing them on a higher pedestal than the babus; that way they will enhance the morale of the men in uniform and the veterans and motivate them to perform even better in defending the nation and its sovereignity. Alas, but the media are more concerned about the governments benovalence towards them!
